not forgotten...

Ah, the sounds and smell of spring remind me its time to load up and hit the Red Clay!  But alas, it would not be for me this year.  After a good run of only missing 2 events since 1984, the Dega chapter has turned for me.  But not to be sorry, nor to mourn, there are simply too many great memories to be sad.  Just this week I was flashed back to a VR return ride with "Oh Sherry" by Steve Perry.  Oh, what vocals we offered.  Then there's "the flat hill", "sippy hole", Parks hanging nip-beads, recent F-4 winds, cow-suit dancing, "play some damn Hank Jr.!, the kind I know!", Jesse in a 4 hr double-up, "Raise HELL, your mama did!", the Bacon Explosion, Heavy hits the windshield on the way down!, being "really stuck", Redhattia, the flag in the smoke, yummy crawfish, unbelievable ribs, beer calculus, syrup butter toast, spine-ecotomy!, like chicken wings off a duck's back, Talladisco, pole-dancin', chocolate-covered strawberries, an unbelievable resemblance to a sloth, Sloppy, "spidey senses!", practicing the double red-eye, "when did the camp go gay?", "down goes Frazier!", Wild Bill Delozier, Slagled, Decoy, and so, so much more.  Wow.

Attached are a few collages from the more recent years.

I invite you now, recent, former, one-time only or considered-but-never-made it types for a different weekend.  One that would bring forward the brotherhood, revelry, food, games, etc. of Dega but perhaps be a bit easier on the family schedule and the family budget.

Our recent outstanding addition, the Big Strong Turd, will make his cabin available to us all for the entire weekend of July 20 - 22.  See some details below.

RK,

    My state tournament is 7/13 - 7/16, so Friday, 7/20 - Sunday 7/22
would work great!  I'm not thinking my squad is a world series-caliber
club so that should work out well.

Things I already have there:

-     Grills / Smokers (many and varied)
-     LP tanks, Fryers, Lardstands (many and varied)
-     Firewood / Firepits
-     Cooking gear (stoves, pots, pans, utensils, etc...)
-     Boats (many and varied) and all necessary jackets, toys,
coolers, legal items
-     Towels (show and beach)
-     Air conditioned sleeping arrangements (8 on beds, 2 - 3 on
couches, unlimited on floor)
-     Hot showers
-     Coolers
-     Corn Hole Boards/Bags

Things we would want to bring:

-     Food
-     Clothing, Swim Trunks
-     Lump Charcoal
-     Brake Fluid
-     Folding chairs (We have floating islands if you prefer to sit in
the water)

Optional:

-     Beer is abundant and close (not particularly cheap)
-     Big ass sound system (my boat bumps, the cabin bumps)
-     BFT (good for shade but the dock provides shade too)
